Whether you like or not, there is stress in college. Who would not be stressed if your professor told you to write 10 different types of essay? Who would not rattle and feel stressed if there’s  surprise exam?

Everybody in school gets stressed. However, it does not mean that you will allow yourself to be stressed all throughout your college life. In fact, there are several ways to minimize and manage stress in college. Learn these ways and your college life will be less stressful.

Do not be stressed that you are stressed. Does it sound shocking or confusing? Here’s the reality: Getting stressed is normal but being more stressed just because you are stressed is not. If you feel stressed because of deadlines and submissions, admit and accept it. Once you’ve done it, that’s the time to know how to handle it. Don’t make things worse; instead, think of ways how to get out of stress.

Sleep. Perhaps, you have already rendered sleepless nights just to review. This deprivation of sleep can just increase your stress level. As much as possible, get enough sleep (around seven to nine hours). Your mind and body need to rest. If you feel too tired, take a break and sleep.

Eat Foods that Relieve Stress. Instead of ranting that you are stressed, just shut up and eat stress-relieving foods. Go to the nearest supermarket or stores and buy the following: bananas, nuts, porridge, salad, and almonds. Do you even know that when you spell the word “stressed” backwards, it will result to “desserts”? So, when you are stressed, eat an ice cream or a chocolate.

There’s no way that stress will not happen in your college life but there are different and several ways how to  manage and reduce it.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Have a less stressful college life!

How To Effectively Manage Your Time in College

Time is gold.
Time is of the essence.
A stitch in time saves nine.

These three phrases may have different origins and interpretations but their meaning is the same and that is MANAGING TIME.

Time management is a skill and it must be learned by a student or else failure might happen. Students are usually bombarded with lists of homework, project, exam, and presentation. Add to these curricular activities are campus events, social gatherings, and the like. With so many things to do in college, is your time enough for all of these? The answer is Yes, if and only if you know how to manage your time.

So how are you going to manage your time as a student? Here are some effective tips.

Make a Calendar of your Activities and Deadlines

With a lot of deadlines, it is impossible to remember all of those. Hence, it is better if you will make use of a calendar and write on the important dates the tasks you need to do. Look at your calendar everyday so that you will be reminded of the deadlines, submissions, or presentations.

Prioritize

If you have several things to do in a single day, try to prioritize. Accomplish first the most important and urgent things. In case a friend needs your help but you still have a lot to do, learn to say no. Politely inform your friend that you can help some other time.

Do not Procrastinate

Just because your are not in the mood, you will procrastinate. This is the worst thing that you can do as a student. Procrastinating is not advisable. As much as possible, do your school stuff on the right time, otherwise it will become more difficult to do. If you were instructed to write essay samples and they have to be passed next week, do it as early as you can. Do not write just a day before the submission for you will just produce a crap.

William Penn, English philosopher, has said, “Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.” So, value your time and manage it properly.
